How we work
Our approach
We bridge the gap between organizations in need and our network of regional partners. Every project runs the same three steps.
01
Source
An organization brings us a problem: a clubhouse running on failing lighting, a computer lab with no one to staff it, a site with no reliable power.
02
Transform
We pair our consultants with a regional delivery partner and fund the work. The consultants are the differentiator: this is what they do professionally.
03
Deliver
The organization keeps a capability it can operate without us, and the savings go back into its own mission rather than its utility bill.
Why this works
Most charitable giving hands an organization money and leaves it to find people who can turn the money into a working system. The Foundation is unusual because the people are the donation. Utilicast consultants modernize electric grids for a living, so when a clubhouse needs its lighting replaced or a computer lab needs building, the same expertise is already in the room.
That also sets a limit. We take on work that is close enough to the parent firm's practice that our consultants add something a general contractor would not. Where a project needs something else, we bring in a regional delivery partner rather than pretending otherwise.
What we fund
- Energy. Lighting retrofits, solar installation, efficiency work that lowers a nonprofit's operating cost permanently.
- Technology access. Computer labs, network infrastructure, and the websites and systems small nonprofits cannot staff for.
- Youth programs. Paid interns in club technology labs, and the programming that keeps those labs used.
